First Steps for Fiber Modem and ONT Troubleshooting
Category: Home/Business Internet
When dealing with fiber modem and ONT issues, the first thing to do is to check the power supply of the devices. Ensure that the modem and ONT are properly plugged into the outlet and that the power light is on. If necessary, try a different outlet. Next, make sure all cables are securely and correctly connected to the appropriate ports; pay special attention to the fiber cable and check for any breaks or bends. Turn off the devices, wait 30 seconds, and then turn them back on; this often resolves minor software glitches. Check the LED lights on the modem or ONT; if the lights are off or red, it could indicate a problem, in which case you may need to seek technical support. You can also reset the device to factory settings by holding down the reset button on the back of the modem or ONT for 10-15 seconds, then reconfigure it.
